After the Rain

High school girl Akira Tachibana loves her manager Mr. Kondo. During rainstorms giant alpacas are summoned and Mr. Kondo, as the only owner of an umbrella, is forced to escort Akira to the hospital to help her injured foot. After the Rain, she confesses to the older man.

A Sister Is All You Need

Itsuki Hashima lives life by only one rule: A sister is all you need. Well, that, AND writing creepy incest novels. What Itsuki doesn't know is that he already has the perfect little sister, it's just that sister happens to be his brother. But Itsuki, conforming to traditional gender norms, refuses to date his little brother. Instead, he tries to bang the nudist novelist who is much better at writing than him. There's also a pretty hot tax accountant in the show.

Kakegurui

James Kakegurui is the last man on Earth. He goes to school surrounded by lemonheads. The lemonheads are an alien parasite that have enslaved humanity and turned their heads into lemons. How will harem hijinks help him save humanity? Or will James just accept his fate and become a beast of two backs with one of the lemonwomen with a crush on him?

Tawawa on Monday will go to his favorite pancake house and order a hot plate of flapjacks with a lemon on top. The restaurant will play pranks on the new serving girls by making them take his order so they get freaked out by his eyeless face. Tawawa plays along because it's one of the few small pleasures he gets from his joyless, blind existence.

Action Heroine Cheer Fruits

In Action Heroine Cheer Fruits, Kotori Minami (from Love Live! fame) moves to the countryside after the excitement of being a school idol comes to an end. There, she and her family become field laborers harvesting fruits for wealthy land-owners. In the picture above, Kotori exams a freshly picked lemon as she ruminates over the efforts of her travails and ponders if this life can ever be considered satisfying. She eventually accepts her life and meets a nice boy named Juan who she agrees to wed.

Sound! Euphonium 2

Lesbians return in Sound! Euphonium 2. This time they go to regionals and give it their all to blow that brass. Will the team win regionals or just get a dummy gold? Twin Angel Break

In Twin Angel Break, Mary wants nothing more than to see her beloved one more time. To accomplish this task, she dresses like a sexy ant and scuttles her way around a middle school parading as a nurse while picking on children and making them cry. Her comrade-in-arms, Billy Genius, overhears of this plan and decides to go along with it, because he really likes middle schoolers. He accidentally falls in love with a crossdressing boy and, through a series of coincidences, ends up marrying crossdresser in Japan's first ever gay marriage. Twin Angel eventually shows up and puts a stop to Mary's scheme (and say mazel tov over the marriage of their gender-bending friend). Mary commits suicide after learning she'll never see her beau again. Also there were some robots in there too. The show never did answer the one burning question: Why are they called Twin Angel when there's five of them?

Eromanga Sensei

Spring 2017: The war on anime is at its apex. Garbage shows like Attack on Titan and Berserk are getting second seasons and Chinese cartoons proliferate. The twilight of anime dissipates into darkness. As hope runs dry, one savior reveals itself: Eromanga Sensei. A show based on the light novel about a light novel author with an incestuous crush on his little sister written by a light novel author with an incestuous crush on his little sister. Will the porn-artist little sister confess her true feelings for her brother so they can final make their true love physical? We can only hope so. Bless you Eromanga Sense. Piacevole

Stepping off the popularity of Food Wars and Gourmet Girl Graffiti comes Piacevole, a show about Italian cooking. Nanase Morina has no experience cooking Italian meals. Or any experience cooking.... or busting tables or taking orders. That doesn't stop her from getting a job at an Italian restaurant and dreaming of one day becoming a high class chef preparing fine Italian cuisine! Of course, she comes no where close during the course of the show, but a girl can dream.

Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid

Miss Kobayashi has finally achieved her dream of becoming tyrannical overlord of the world. As ruler, she is entitled to take the strongest creatures as her slaves. Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid helps her master overcome insurrections and maintain order in this conquered world. But will the Kobayashi clan be able to overcome their greatest threat: Other dragons?

Urara Meirochou

Urara Meirochou's feral child Chiya has one goal: Find her mother and kill her. In pursuit of the vile woman, Chiya infiltrates Labyrinth City. There, she attempts to fit in with all the other fortune telling frauds and joins a fortune telling school. With her three classmates covering for her lack of skill and knowledge in the phony fortune profession, she proceeds to move up the ranks. Every rank gained is one step closer to sweet matricide.

In the last episode, Fuuka gets hit by a truck and dies. LOL!

Spiritpact

Spiritpact is another one of those Chinese cartoons pretending to be an anime. It doesn't make any sense and it's overall pretty bad. I put more effort into this post than the studio put into the show.

Rilu Rilu Fairilu

Is Rilu Rilu Fairilu a lesson for children in the follies of totalitarianism? Or is it trying to brainwash kids into finding it acceptable? The entire concept of the show is about the working class fairilus being kept under close watch by their all-powerful, all-seeing godking Gaul. The main character dares to defy her mental conditioning and oftentimes attempts to escape into the human world. But the godking keeps preventing her, telling her how great Little Fairilu is. So it's hard to say which way the show is leaning. Will Lip be able to achieve her dream of mating with a human? Or will the all powerful Gaul prevent her escape?

Kemono Friends

Kemono Friends was originally developed by fifth-grader Tatsuki Shigenori using a Playstation 2 for a school biology presentation about different animals and their habitat around the globe. However, due to a DVD mix-up, Father Shigenori accidentally brought the project into his work at the Tokyo Broadcasting System and broadcast Kemono Friends all over Japan. Rather than admitting the mistake, TBS quickly hired the twelve-year-old Tatsuki and his two classmates to animate, write, direct, and voice-act eleven more episodes of Kemono Friends.

March comes in like a lion

March comes in like a lion but out like a lamb. Completely unlike this lamb of a show. You know what's even more boring than shogi? A show about shogi. Main character Rei Kiriyama is sad about stuff. So he spends the entire show moping about. When he's not moping, he plays shogi. He's a professional shogi player. That's apparently a real thing.

Ai-Mai-Mi Surgical Friends

Ai, Mai, and Mi return in Surgical Friends, the third and a half season of the Ai-Mai-Mi global franchise. Ai, Mai, and Mi are all friends in the manga club. They spend their time together coming up with new and interesting stories, characters, and art for their various manga projects that they have going on. They also sometimes fight aliens.

Kiss Him, Not Me!

Kae Serinuma is a hot mess. After losing 100 pounds by forgetting to eat due to a depression caused by the death of her anime husbando, Kae becomes a reverse-harem protagonist. However, her only interest in boys comes from watching them bang each other. "Kiss Him, Not Me!" She tells each of her harem members. She's really into BL. She won't shut up about it. Eventually, one of the harem members convinces her to go on a date. The obvious location: The alpaca zoo. All alpacas and only alpacas.

The Great Passage

The Great Passage is about a bunch of boring people doing the most boring thing in the world: Making a dictionary. The main character's biggest hobby (other than making a dictionary) is staring at people taking the escalator. He eventually falls in love with his land lady's granddaughter for no reason other than "she lives in the same building." After writing a 10 page love letter (half in Chinese) they decide to get married. I guess even though the woman knew she was way better and way more interesting than him she decided to settle because the dating scene was too hard. The eye-catch of each episode is a bunch of dictionaries talking to the audience. It completely destroys the mood and adds nothing to the show. Apparently dictionaries across the Pacific all have names and different words in them unlike ours which are all just called "The Dictionary" and simply have all the words in them.

Cheating Craft

Cheating Craft is one of many Chinese cartoons inexplicably showing up in the Fall 2016 season. And, like everything else made in China, it's a poorly made pile of poo. This Chinese anime epitomizes the Chinese signature design of ripping off something else while making sure it makes no sense. It's like someone over in China saw a battle shonen and decided to try to make their own. If you enjoy building with Legu bricks and eating Laye's potato chips then you'll love Cheating Craft.

Nyanbo!

The Nyanbo!s are not cats, they're space aliens! Tora and his extraterrestrial friends have one and only one mission here on Earth: Get the hell off this rock. Stranded on this backwater world, Tora, Shiro, Kuro, Mike, and Kotora search the junkyards for any salvageable machinery that could possibly power their spaceship. If they have to spend just one more minute on this terrible place alongside the evil residents known as "cats," the Nyanbo!s may just go insane.

The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.

Saiki K stars as the all-powerful psychic in The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.. As a psychic, it's Saiki's duty to rid the world of all evil fruits. The evilest of all is Life's Lemon. He releases his tangy juices right in your face as you pucker up and swallow a squirt. Will Saiki be able make lemonade out of this sinister citrus or will the world be forced to suck a lemon?

Love Live! Sunshine!!

The Love Lives return with Love Live! Sunshine!!. Taking place roughly five years after the original Love Live and after the fall of the u's empire. u's's shadow haunts the show and the nine girls who star in it, collectively known as Aquors. The girls are on a mission to hunt down u's. For what reason, we do not know. Aquors has one lead: The Love Live. They enter the idol contest in an attempt to draw out u's, but what they uncover is something darker.

Fafner Exodus

Why did Fafner of all things get another season? Don't bother asking me what this was about. I have no idea.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 4: Diamond is Unbreakable

Jojo's grandfather Jojo cheated on his wife and now has an illegitimate child named Jojo. Now Jojo has to team up with his uncle Jojo with help from grandpa Jojo in order to stop a murderer, a ghost, a couple of magical rats, a wacky chef, and a crazy lady with crazy hair. Macross Delta

A group of teen idol magical girls fight on the frontlines of a galactic civil war in Macross Delta. Backed by the paramilitaristic Delta Squad and their jet planes with legs, the idol group Walkure uses their songs in the fight against the insurrectionists of Windermere and their androgynous boy-king. You can't get more anime than that.

Three Leaves, Three Colors

Three Leaves, Three Colors is about down-on-her-luck Yoko Nishikawa and her moronic friends. Yoko used to be a billionaire but all her savings were in the British Pound. After the exit from the European Union and the collapse of the English currency, Yoko finds herself living on the street and eating breadcrusts. Watch as she and two friends try to swindle the neighborhood kids out of their quarters so they can go buy the one thing that they love the most: jawbreakers.

Aikatsu Stars!

Aikatsu! gets re-imagined with the new show Aikatsu Stars!. Bandai Namco realized that Ichigo Jr. was ruining the original Aikatsu! and that PriPara was the superior little girl idol show so they rebooted the series as Aikatsu Stars!. Yume Nijino has the dream of being one of the four top sluts of Aikatsu Academy. Will she be able to spread her wings (and her legs) to achieve her dreams? Or will new bitch Laura Sakuraba usurp her and become the ultimate Queen Bitch? Watch every week as Yume and her blossoming friends step ever closer to their Aikatsu goals!

Usakame

Everyone's favorite sports anime returns with a new spinoff called Usakame. The show follows four girls who attend Usakame, a rival school of Teekyu gals. The TQ girls (including our favorite alpaca-lover Marimo "Panty Eater" Bando) make a cameo appearance for a practice match against the RabbitTurtles. After all, they need to stay in fighting condition for the next season of Teekyu (which we all hope is soon!).

Bungo Stray Dogs

Bungo Stray Dogs is all about re-interpretations of famous Japanese authors. So that means you'll be lucky to have heard of any of them. Taking these writers' stories and turning them into superpowers (like an Atsushi Nakajima who turns into a tiger or a Kenji Miyazawa who is Not Defeated By Rain when he's hungry) the show definitely seems to try too hard to be clever. But it can't be too bad since there's this guy with ridiculous sunglasses and scarf holding a lemon. Maybe I need to brush up on my Japanese authors, since I don't remember coming across any lemon-wielding wordsmiths.

Shonen Ashibe: Go! Go! Goma-chan

I'm Goma knock you out! Momma gonna knock you out! Shonen Ashibe: Go! Go! Goma-chan is about Ashibe (a shonen) and his pet Goma (a goma). Ashibe's family adopts this adorable little seal after finding him in the middle of the road and they decide to name him Goma (how original). Goma enjoys water, ice-pops, and causing mischief. See this suave seal steal the hearts of all those around him. Go! Go! Goma-chan!

PriPara

PriPara is the show so good it gets two entries! Cotton Candy was once a human male. He gave up his humanity and became an alpaca in order to join the girls-only Pripara. He now serves the dark despot Lady Sophie as her personal chauffeur. Lady Sophie has joined forces with upcoming idols Laala and Mireille in order to start a revolution in Pripara and position themselves as the only idols.
